Back in the 1980s, I was drooling over the boardgame Space Crusade, a game from the Warhammer 40k franchise. But in the 1990s, when the trading card games like Magic: The Gathering were all the rage, a card game has drawn my attention. Its name? Doomtrooper. It’s a trading card game from the Mutant Chronicles franchise. Then snowball effect came along. I have gotten my hands on the RPG sourcebook. I have fallen in love, and Mutant Chronicles turned out to be the RPG I played the most along with Dungeons & Dragons and Legend of the Five Rings.

Then the franchise slipped off the radars because of the misfortune of its publishers (the cancellation of its MMORPG just did not help). However, a strong community of players (especially those from Europe) refused to let it die and kept the flame burning. The internet helped the communities to provide help for each other, then a new edition of the game, along with a movie has been announced.

The new Mutant Chronicles. Less BIG shoulderpads. MORE grit.

For those who will go see the movie, I’ll tell you this: If you were a player, don’t expect too much and take it as a separate entity, just like how Burton’s Batman is so different in flair and style from Nolan’s Batman. If you never played the game, just know that beneath the shallow B-movie shell lies an ambitious universe that hold strokes of genius that set it apart from its concurrent, Warhammer 40k.

So how Mutant Chronicles has come out as 40k clone but has managed to get an identity on its own? Why do I like it more than Warhammer 40k?

Aka Ryoko’s Case Files.

Hey Japan, think up more of these long and impossibly difficult to remember titles please!

Other than the title, I got to download the show out of sheer curiosity.

A rather likeable female lead
Saeko Nogami meet Suzumiya Haruhi

Upon viewing the show, three things came up to me:

- Designs by Narumi Kakinouchi (the character designer of Vampire Princess Miyu), an artist I’ve liked back in the day. And I still do.

- The female is voiced by Hitomi Nabatame. As it stands, she is portraying Ryoko Yakushiji pretty good.

- Her underling, Junichiro Izumida, is 33 years old. A rather unusual age range in this time.

Both are involved in cases that have supernatural elements, and cannot be solved by science or David Caruso.

From what I have read, it’s a retelling of the first season. I guess it is a move to pull in the lolilovers back. I am personally liking the redesign of Nanoha’s Barrier Jacket the most. I do expect higher production values and tighter, in a good meaning, storytelling pacing. That’s the least I should expect from a movie. Of course, I would not have minded a post-StrikerS season, especially when a Sound Stage clocking around two hours is coming soon and have yet another time skip, of three years.

Un-Moeblob’ed Vivio = Hooray. Nun Sein = HAWT! Teana with her long hair down = asdasdadsgagf*nosebleed*

I wish them the best of luck and success, so we may have a A’s movie.

Ok, back to beating punks up and trying to unlock Kotomi.

Yaranaika: the herald of doom. For your virginity and heterosexuality.

Basically, Tomoyo Fighter Perfect is a Final Fight clone, with a 2D vs Figthing Game-sized roster that keep extending as you complete the game (that’s what a friend told me, he completed it, I was still testing it). Unlike what its title implies, it’s far from perfect. There seems to have some problems with the collisions boxes or the controls. It can be sometimes annoying especially in the bikers stage.

Some more sillyness brought up by youtube and niconico videos.

Theme: JoJo’s Bizarre Adventures

What’s up Gang? (niconico video)

What if JoJo Part 4 has an OP? (niconico video)

Cromartie Highschool + JoJo Part 5. And Diavolina.

Who seriously doesn’t know “Marisa stole the precious thing”?

I love this genre and much to my pleasure, it never died. Even in its darkest hours, it has not gone extinct, thanks to the offers from the doujin scene.

While it may not enjoy the popularity of the early 1990s, or when Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter and Tekken has overshadowed them, there were still people picking one up for some games with their friends. Why? Why does it refuse to die when 3DEE is the rage, when nerds can just pick SC4 to play Yoda and Darth Vader?

Just like all cool kids, I have been following the Kara no Kyoukai movies.

If anything, until now, the animated adaptations of works involving the Nasuvere has been underwhelming. Anyone who has actually played the games will tell you that under these less-good-than-expected anime lies a very rich universe that would hold a rather favorable comparison to White Wolf’s World of Darkness.

So when the Kara no Kyoukai movies were announced, my hopes for the movies to deliver were really low.

So apparently, spambots has been assaulting my blog. After cleaning up the spam, I have installed spam karma. Unless you guys have better suggestions, I’ll stick with it.

Godamn bots, I wish they leave me alone.

Then I look at my anime backlog and a deep feeling of despair overwhelm me. Added up with my wish to come up with something for my IAQ project, I feel like the fucking Sisyphus.
