I know it is not even concerning my country but I feel like dropping my opinion about it. Why? Because who you guys will choose will have a butterfly effect on the economy and politics of the world. If you knew my political stance (hint: I earned the scorn of many of economy-crack students who associated my ideals with gulags and greenpeace attacks), you would know who I am rooting for. However, I am very pessimistic and expect MCCain to win.

why?

First, the survey polls. Those are bullshit and means nothing until you put your vote in the ballot. So long it is counted ;)
It is not the survey polls that decides who to vote for, it is up to the will of the guys casting their votes. I can name two instances where survey polls ultimately failed!

- In 2004, John Kerry was stated to be the eventual winner. But we knew how it had gone.

- In 2002, the socialist Lionel Jospin, running for French presidency, was stated to be coming in first or second place to run for the second round. However, in this day of April, the first was Chirac and the second was…. Jean-Marie Le Pen, leader of the Front National, the french extreme right-wing.

Here, I give you a reason to not trust survey polls.

Secondly, I don’t have a lot of faith in the voters. I don’t know… Republicans have played the “SECURITY”, “US VS THEM”, “GOOD CHRISTIANS VS EVIL ARABS” cards for so long that this paranoia, so american, had yet to be cast away (it does not help that the Democrat candidate have “Hussein” in his name, uh?). It just does not help that the US economy is in a bad shape. I don’t know how much weight the moms and the neckties in the voting pool, but I guess it is a damn lot. And it appears to me that they would usually go for the candidate that will guarantee stability, security and continuity (hint: the Republican). How can they trust a black guy running on promise of change, and is seen as a prophet (the problem with prophets, their ideals mostly hold ground when they are dead)? Don’t people fear to be disappointed when that guy will be in the office? (I don’t mean that the other candidate will not disappoint. Politicians rarely hold their promises, say my inner cynical frenchman.)

And how much experience does he have? You can bet that the other candidate have a bit more experience.

You can now tell why I am more pessimistic than the more enthusiatic ones.

You know, if he is elected, maybe he will pull a JFK. After all, who said that white supremacists doesn’t have their gu… errr.. word to say?
Yes, my faith in humankind is THAT low when it comes to it. After all, I am a product of the Cold War, in its last years, and had grown up with the rage felt from the sentiment of injustice born in the late 1960s and all the 1970s.
