What’s this site and who is Sheba?

What’s this site?

This site is Sheba’s property. It will be my blogging and ranting corner. Here I’ll talk about anime, manga, movies, TV, pen & paper RPGs, music and random stuff. In other words, I’ll talk about stuff I like and feel like sharing.

Do not expect huge walls of text that analyze the post-modernist significance of x or y piece of entertainment. There are bloggers that are better at that than me. And some little things are harder for me to convey in okay English than in French. It will be mostly fanboy jizz mixed with attempts to criticize. Do not expect objectivity. I think that objectivity is pure vanity and anyone claiming to be objective is utterly and blatantly bullshitting, for our flawed nature makes us biased by default.

I, the author of this blog, am entitled to my opinion, and if you are going to go against it, I expect you to do it in an educated and intelligent manner, therefore the “lol u/it sux” or any 4chan-stained kind of reply are not going to make the cut. If you can present your opinion in the manners I mentionned, while keeping common sense and sense of etiquette, I’ll respect your opinion. You may even find a decent person to chat with in my person; my comrades from orochinagi.com knows what I mean.

As a blogger, I’ll try to keep meme-based gimmicks at a minimum level. I believe they are meant to be salt and pepper of a post or article, not its meat. Too much of them spoil the post, just like how pouring too much salt and pepper spoil a good rosbeef.

Please. Do not expect too much from me.

Who is Sheba?

I am a random french internet user who is no worse and no better than the average internet user.
I came on internet as a fighting game geek looking for knowledge on KoFonline then I migrated over Orochinagi.com and somehow settled here as a veteran and regular, with one or two hiatus between big spam periods.

I play Guilty Gear, King of Fighters, Street Fighter, Samurai Shodown and various doujin 2D fighting games. I also play shooters, like the ones from the Touhou series, and am quite horrible at them. Computer or console RPGs have to be very well done to impress me, Final Fantasy doesn’t count as them for me. I also plays MMOs, mainly Ragnarok Online, on the international server, and am currently (as for march 25th 2008) playing World of Warcraft. Hey, 10-days trial is not something to turn down.

I am also an avid reader, of sci-fi like Dune, Hot House, Man in the High Castle Helliconia series, or Fantasy like Moorcock’s works, Conan the Barbarian, Le Guin’s Earthsea or Zelazny’s Amber.

I play pen&paper RPGs like Dungeons and Dragons and Legend of the Five Rings. As for now, it is mostly Legend of the Five Rings.

I am a guy who also enjoys to watch movies, especially comedy, sci-fi, fantasy, war and horror.

I obsess over C/D/E/F cups, yuri, zettai ryouiki or many other stuff.

My gods, as in fictional characters or real people so awesome I would build a shrine for them, are:

  • Bruce Lee
  • Albert Einstein
  • William Wallace
  • Che Guevara
  • Freddie Mercury
  • Ennio Morricone
  • The late Pope John Paul II
  • Gary Gygax
  • Michael Moorcock
  • H.P Lovecraft (I know, he is a racist fuck, but it didn’t stop me from enjoying his work)
  • Frank Herbert
  • Ursula Le Guin
  • J.R.R Tolkien
  • The Monty Pythons
  • Jim Morrison
  • Charles Ingalls
  • Dutch Schaeffer (from Predator)
  • Conan the Barbarian
  • Eric Draven

  • Raoh
  • Toki
  • Guts
  • Eikichi Onizuka
  • Hosaka

Why “Not as Planned!”

“Not as Planned!” mock “Just As Planned!” from Death Note. It’s one of the motto of life, because things should not be expected to go your way, “not as planned”. I has a lot of “not as planned!” moments in my life, be it social or related to my fandoms. Not as planned! This fighting game I was praised is not offering the balance of fun and balance I hoped to find. Not as planned! This anime/manga/TV series/movie I hyped or praised didn’t turned out that great or just plain sucked. Not as planned! The yogurt cake I ovened fell flat as badly as a bad chee souffle. “Not as Planned!” shall be the motto of this site, but I can’t guarantee you to keep it up, the motto I mean.
